BackMedcoEnergi Commits to Strengthen Flood Relief and Recovery in Sumatra

MedcoEnergi recognizes the significant impact of the flooding disaster that occured towards the end of November 2025 across Sumatra and remains committed to supporting those affected by these natural disasters.

In response to severe flooding in several regions, MedcoEnergi - through Medco Foundation, and in collaboration with SKK Migas and other oil and gas companies - has delivered comprehensive relief and recovery support for affected communities, employees, and contractors. The assistance prioritizes urgent humanitarian needs while supporting the restoration of essential services and early recovery efforts in impacted areas.

As part of the emergency response, MedcoEnergi installed a clean water facility in Aceh to help restore access to safe water for flood affected communities. The facility can produce up to 25,000 liters of clean water per day, benefiting more than 3,000 residents. In parallel, community training was conducted to ensure the facility can be operated and maintained effectively. To support long-term sustainability, the system will be managed by the local community with ongoing support from the local government, ensuring continued access beyond the emergency phase.

Additional assistance was delivered across multiple affected provinces. This included the provision of four clean water ultra-filtration units, deployment of heavy equipment to support response and recovery activities, and IDR 1.6 billion in financial assistance for more than 400 impacted employees and contractors. MedcoEnergi also distributed over 50 tons of humanitarian aid, including food supplies, medical support, internet facilities, and other essential goods across Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. In East Aceh, medical teams and Mobile Medical Services, supported by 500 kilograms of medicines, provided treatment to more than 1,700 patients.

The total value of MedcoEnergi's relief and recovery assistance across Sumatra exceeded USD 500,000. All initiatives were implemented in close coordination with government stakeholders and local partners to support timely and effective delivery on the ground.
